Calypso Gilstrap, NBCT, was an English teacher who could also drive a bus and put on an all school musical until 2009, when she began the best job in the school as the school librarian until 2022. Currently, Ms. Gilstrap is the Instructional Technology Specialist for the Virginia Department of Education
Her most honorable honors are Norman High Teacher of the Year 2012, VAASL James Region Librarian of the Year 2021, and RVA Tech’s Community Impact Award 2022. She was the Oklahoma School Librarian chair and then served as Oklahoma Library Association president (best conference ever!). She has been published in Knowledge Quest and School Library Connection as well as hosted several webinars and been a panelist for various national events. At home, there is a large tribe of teens and new adults as well as Calypso’s husband who is the principal of a high school in Richmond City. She has fun reading, hiking, camping, museums, and, well really, any new adventure. Shout out to all those other Enneagram 7s!
